January 2024 - Thankful in Blue´s Worlds | World Anvil

January 2024 - Thankful

What a great month and what an amazing last year!

My review of 2023

2023 was actually the first big official year on WorldAnvil after I joined Discord in December 2022. Before that, my world was plodding along and gathering a little response from the first challenges. I was particularly surprised that I won a small prize in the buildings category during my first WorldEmber participation and that a few articles received kind words during my first reading challenge in January 2023.

In February and the end of March 2023 I opened two new worlds and after switching my German articles to English there was an additional increase in successes. I “celebrated” each of them for myself. I was able to learn a lot of new things and finally started drawing more again. I was particularly proud of my first 2 featured articles on WorldAnvil and Discord.

I know I can't keep up with many of the authors and programmers who are on WA, but I'm still happy that I was able to achieve so much in 2023 and I hope that I can build on last year's successes in 2024.

My successes in 2023

1 prize for participation in WE 2022 in the buildings category
1 unofficial challenge including badge
2 featured articles on WA & Discord
3 published worlds

This small map shows my 2023 trip as a summary. If you would like to know what happened in each month or if you were there for the community's featured articles, follow this link to the English articles beginning with March 2023 and visit each month using the arrows at the end of each article.

I would like to thank everyone for supporting my successes throughout 2023
for making it possible, thank you very much. You are great!

A direct thank you goes to:

Nightone for his comments in many of my articles, which, in a questioning manner (which I find a very good kind of feedback, by the way), occasionally provide inspiration for new articles, reveal some errors in my world building or make me rethink one or two ideas.
nnie Stein and Qurilion or their comment in my Water Forest article. This comment really helped me think about the content in more detail in many later articles and hopefully improve my world building somewhat.
The amazing WA-Team, for providing this great platform to make our fantasies come true and of course to the incredible community, whose good tips and numerous tricks have always been very helpful to me.

My review of the month

I wrote four articles, including this one - my reading challenge with resolutions, the third part introducing Elaqitan and a welcome article here in Blue's Worlds for my little studio. Additionally, I have started building my Elaqitan lexicon. The release is expected to take place at the end of this year, when it will already have a certain size.

Since I now follow almost 100 worlds, there were a lot of great articles to read for my challenge, of which I chose 21 pieces for my article. Satrium was so sweet to create an overview with everyone who took part in the challenge and all the mentions for the community. Although I was happy about my good performance in the rankings during Worldember, what happened to my dozen articles during the Reading Challenge was simply unbelievable. In total I received 33 mentions. Incomprehensible! In addition, two articles made it onto the shortlist for the award ceremony.

A big thankyou to all my readers who accompanied my goblins during WorldEmber and the reading challenge and grew to love their way of life. It was a risk, but I'm so glad I had the courage to take this path.

Badges won

Since my birthday is in January and this year I was able to celebrate a semi-circular one
the reading challenge was a fantastic gift. Finally, a few great quotes from the community.

"My jaw literally dropped when I saw B.'s world for the first time. The images, the aesthetics...everything is beautiful. ..."

LadyArsenik read
"Brictaelgis"
"B. is an incredibly talented storyteller. I've also read through some of her other articles and they are all very engaging and creative. The art and design of her world is also so, so pretty..."

Haleo read
"The dragon scale of wisdom"
"The green aesthetic... immediately made me think that this had to do with some kind of wood elves... and so I was pleasantly surprised... that they are actually the goblins... of this world... ."

Belerion_Bard read
"Leafe-changing-festival"

Yes, I know, this is where I have always presented articles to the community over the last few months.
I apologize for making an exception this month and foregoing it.
But I'll catch up with my review for February. Promised!
