Scope

The motivation behind building Binaka

This world is being built mainly for my own edification. However, I hope to run RPGs within it as well. For those reasons, my motiviation is to create a world that fits my ideas of how various types of gaming worlds should work. The main idea is things don't happen simply "because magic."

The goal of the project

I want to have fun building a world I like. I also want to run RPG campaigns within that world, but this is secondary at the moment.

Binaka's Unique Selling point

My world has gone through four ages, an age of powerful magic, an age of high technology, an age of bioengineering, and the current age of light fantasy magic, building upon the previous ages.

Theme

Genre

I largely have four genres, although I'm mainly focusing on the light-magic/fantasy genre for now. But there is also heavy magic, high tech (with early development of nuclear technology), and biotechnology.

Reader Tone

I think I'm shooting for something in the middle... Stargate fits pretty well. The heroes will likely be mostly ordinary people (for the world) solving problems big and small. There will be bright spots and dark spots.   This really only applies to the Fourth Age, though. I see the First Age as dark (lots of powerful despotic rulers doing bad things the Second Age as something like Shadowrun (without the magic, mostly and the Third Age as also somewhere in between, with wonderous creations as well as monstrous.
