Principality of Rotai (/ˈɹoʊtaɪ/)

The Principality of Rotai is one of the Eastern Principalities. It specializes in making textiles and growing most of the fibrous plants used for said textiles. Some of the best artisans in the world turn rough fibers into works of art throughout the nation, but most especially in the capital city of Kaukalaik.

Agriculture & Industry

Rotai is known throughout the Two Continents for its textiles. The production of textiles is largely controlled by the Rotai Cabal. This group operates in a gray area. They have a strong public (and legal) presence, negotiating with the government, acting as unofficial dignataries as they sell their wares abroad, and sharing their wealth through benevolent contributions to the community. But they also enforce their own internal rules without room for error. The leaders of the Cabal are to be obeyed at all costs, for the cost of not obeying is greater still. While this aspect of the Cabal is not unknown, it is conveniently ignored in all but the most egregious cases, as the Cabal is effective at bringing profits and tax monies into the Principality.
Secondary to the actual textile production, is the growing of the source materials for said textiles. Several crops are produced within the borders of Rotai that go directly into the production of cloth and other textiles.
