Naming Traditions
Elves all have three names, A given name, a family name, and a secret name. The Given name, and the Family name are given at birth, by their parents or family elders. The secret name is chosen during their coming of age ceremony, usually associated with a given trade, or from divine inspiration. Elves hold their secret names very close, and will usually only tell those very close to them.
If an elf tells a none elf their secret name, that is considered a great honor.
History
Legend states that when Jasceenah the goddess of oceans first walked upon the beaches of Biethal, drops of water fell from her dress and landed upon the beach. These drops became the first elves.
Now during this time elves were like water, they were movable and could fit the shape that the land required of them. Some elves traveled far inland into forests and places of rocks and stone. These travelers became the High Elves, Wood Elves, and the other types of elves that we are familiar with. Eventually elves overtime began to solidify like ice. Most elves lost their more liquid nature, and became set in their lives
This solidifying was due to Jasceenah leaving the material plane and entering her heaven, the Osheanica, where many elves hope to go when they die.
