Human in Beyond Ragnarok | World Anvil

Humans

Humans are the refugee's from Midgard during the events of Ragnarok, and as such are strangers to these worlds. Over generations, spanning several hundred years Humans have found their place in the new cultures and environments upon the Realms they have found themselves on.
Humans can be found on all four of the playable worlds.

Below is an overview of what life is like for them on each world.

ASGARD

Asgard was where the higher classes; the kings, queens and other nobles of the Midgard kingdoms, stayed. Over the generations they have been on Asgard, however, this has been broken down and now only the most influential hold onto a part of their families former wealth and power.

Baldr has a council of human advisors, who advise him on matters to do with human interaction and resolution, but ultimately Baldr or his appointed Aesir representative will make the decisions.

Outside of the Capital of Gladsheim life for humans once the settling period was over, proceeded much as it would have upon Midgard; the only difference being their local ruler was often a God if you lived within a large city.

Humans can do most of the roles they would have on Midgard; from farmer, smith, roving warband, government official, or if they are exceptional; the Asgardian army itself under Freya.

Camp Status

Status 2

Humans upon Asgard are numerous, and make up the main bulk of the Midgard Unit under their Aesir Commanders. They are seen as higher than the Lloss Alfar who are there; this is not by their own hand but by the Asgardian Alfar themselves, who put themselves below humans.

VANAHEIM

Humans on Vanaheim are equally treated to any other being within the realm. The world is nominally ruled by the Vanir themselves, though they are much more liberal than their Aesir cousins, and instead have a ruling council of representatives from all race; the Vanir, the Humans, and the Jotun Born.

There are no restrictions on social standing for Humans on Vanaheim

Life on Vanaheim for humans is of one connected to the land; where what you can bring home is what you live by, rather than relying on trade for their living. Most humans find it a freeing life, but some find the lack of war or ability to conflict hampering.

Camp Status

Status 1

Even though all are treated equal upon Vanaheim, the people of the current Council Leader are treated with more reverence out of natural respect for those associated with power.

The current Council Lead is a Jotunborn.

ALFHEIM

Humans on Alfheim are, on the surface, equal to that of the Alfar. Within most of Alfhgeim society this is the cae. However, for the Lloss Alfar Humans are merely tolerated. The Lloss rule this world, and for traditions sake humans are not allowed to hold positions within the royal household.

Alfheim is a lush and fertile realm and has benefitted from the Human ability to work in many ways and have enriched the varity of goods and food upon the world. Farming is the most common position held by humans on Alfheim, and for the most part their Alfar neighbours enjoy the creativity, productivity and varity they have brought to their lives.

Camp Status

Status 1

Humans on Alfheim are all below the Alfar in status whether on the home realm, or amongst the Midgard Unit. This is due to the ruling classes views.

SVARTALFHEIM

Humans upon Svartalfheim, were not the lucky ones. They have freedom but the world of Svartalfheim is harsh, and they are left to their own devices to try and survive. The Svartalfar do not allow them within their city walls, and trade opportunities are rare. They have become a hardy people as a result, living where the harsh landscape is best for them. Some do live together with the Jotunborn of this realm who are also in the same position as they are, creating cohabiting communities both of the settled variety and the nomadic.

Camp Status

Status 1

Humans from Svartalfheim, though at home would be highly regarded for managing to be on the Midgard Unit, are still treated as less than Svart.
