Pitax

The third largest settlement within the Phirean Dynasty located on the southern slopes of Blackcloud Peak. The city is famous for its deep mines, bountiful in both precious stones and minerals. The craftsman here are some of the most skilled in all of Beru, nobles from every city consider Pitaxan goods to be exquisite.

Demographics

There is a significant population of dwarves and gnomes within Pitax due to its prosporous mining industry. Within this city you can find some of the finest jewllery in all of Beru. Almost anyone who lives here is considered well-off by other people, though there is a class divide between rich and poor.

Government

The city is governed by a ruling council of elected officals, this council is overseen by an appointed priest of The Child. Though this priest's position is mostly ceremonial in legal issues, their opinion is highly valued and often will superceed the councils decisions.

Defences

Because the city has numerous foundries, workshops and skilled crafters it is the pinnacle of technological development. As such, the city has a veritable trove of experimental weapons that can be used for its defence. The city never built walls or strongholds allowing it to grow without restrictions as the region is considered one of the safest in Beru. However, as the city grew in wealth bandit attacks did become more frequent.

Industry & Trade

Pitax has no source of food production within its bounds and relies on the town of Balten to feed its population. This has never proved to be an issue as the city is incredibly wealthy and has ample goods to trade from raw materials like steel, gold and gemstones to crafted items such as jewellery, clockwork goods and weapons.    The city has a monopoly on weapon production within the Phirean Dynasty with workshops constantly striving for innovations.

Infrastructure

The city was originally built as a mining hub and as such had an elaborate network of minecart tracks built from the beginning. These tracks have remained and are used as transportation highways for large, multiperson cars to move people around. In 1062 The Flathammers family began a great public work and constructed a raised trackway that traced the original. This was to be used to transport raw materials through the city without congesting the orignial network that had now become a vital resource for many people.

Districts

The northern section of the city is where you will find the forges and workshops of Pitax. This area is known locally as "The Heart" as it is what drives industry and commerce. Without The Heart, the city would die. Inside the district it is hot and dusty, though thanks to a strong wind prevailing wind from the southwest there is rarely any smog in the city. Many of the foundries were moved to the exterior edge and the workshops moved closer to the centre in an attempt to mitigate the problem.    The governmental, educational and recreational places are within the centre of the city to allow everyone easy access. Considered the most important place within Pitax by the locals, The Junction is a bustling hub of activity at all times of day and is where you can access any part of the city from. Many use this space as a transfer point when going about their day.    The homes of Pitax are located in the southern and eastern portions of the city as this is where the smoke rarely gathers even when the wind shifts.

Guilds and Factions

The Workers Guild has a strong prescence within Pitax and dictates what work can be undertaken, though innovation is always welcomed even if it means the rules must be bent.    Despite not being the rulers The Flathammers family is recognised by many to be the most important family within Pitax. Workers not related to the family are often pushed into the shadows.
