The Workers Guild
The Workers Guild is a cooperative for all forms of artisans within Mistvale.
Structure
There is no single leader of the Guild, rather a representative of each individual trade is elected to a seat at the Master's Table.
The Masters Table is where major decisions affecting all trades are discussed such as new trade agreements, regulations and quotas imposed by the dynasty or expansions of sectors. Once a Master is elected to this table they hold the seat until their retirement from their trade or death, many longer-lived races have sat this table for over a century. Though a Master may not directly interfear with trades outside their own section, their opinion is highly respected by all.
Culture
Mastery of ones craft is expected to be a workers drive within the guild, workers who are heard to be only after wealth are often shunned or outright expelled from the organisation.
Masters and skilled crafters often take on aspiring workers in decades long apprenticeships, making new recruits valuable commodities. Wealthier nobels will sometimes hire two tradesmen of the same craft to compete on a single project, with the favoured winner being showered in renown and praise while the loser may often retire out of shame.
The Guild as a community will sometimes collaborate on grand works such as renovation of old public buildings or construction of new housing for the city with no charge. The last great work that was completed was the renovation of the sewage network in 1330 after a particularly powerful earthquake the previous year.
History
The Guild's creation was dictated by Amon Phirean at the start of the expansion of the Dynasty in 890 as a way for all trades to communicate swiftly and effectively as new settlements were founded and borders expanded.
In 990 at the centenary celebrations it was announced that the Guild would expand the cities borders with their first grand works: The Palace of the Mother.
