Farre

Farre is the largest port on Stillwater Sound and the busiest within the Kingdom of Breaton handling dozens of ships every day, loading them with the Kingdoms goods and importing rare items from abroad.

Demographics

Due to its bustling port the town is filled with all kinds of people and travellers from across Beru. Because of its port those with a natural affinity for the sea are prevelent, including Sea Elfs, Water Genasi & worshipers of Marina.

Government

Farre is led by an appointed Minister from the capitol Stockcross. Due to its importance the King often sends their most trusted Minister, typically a close friend or family member.

Defences

The city is lined with a stone wall that reaches into the sea to repel invaders that rises nearly 30ft high. This wall is lined with towers and keeps that observe the sea and surrounding countryside, watching dutifully for invaders.   The docks are a veritable arsenal themselves with the breakwater lighthouse acting as its own fortress.

Industry & Trade

Trade keeps this town alive and the harbour never sleeps, even during festivals and religious ceremonies ships will dock, though the number is reduced in honour of the day. The constant transfer of goods and people means that the town refines goods rather than creating raw resources, mills turn grain from the north into flour, sawmills turn Heartwood trees into planks and forges smelt Pineglen ore.

Infrastructure

The east of the town is filled with docks and quays that reach out into the sound, there is a large wharf and system of dry docks for ship construction and maintenance here too.   Lumberyards are common here too to assist in the shipbreaking business, working imported timbers from across the Kingdom.

Guilds and Factions

The Shipwrights Guild plays an important role within the town, employing a significant portion of the population and influencing decisions.    After the War of Tears the King installed a dedicated garrison of soldiers to protect Farre. Its occupation during the war dealt a heavy blow to the Kindgom.
