Crown Plaza
A large open space near the center of Stockcross with pillars holding marble busts of former rulers of the Kingdom. This space is often used as a meeting space and performance location for bards and public speakers.
Purpose / Function
The plaza was founded as a parade ground for newly graduated soldiers and to host public events such as festivals and speeches. The plaza has since grown too small to fufil its original role due to encroaching housing and the growth of the city. In modern times it is used by locals of the area to hold parties and meetings. Guards who are assigned to this part of the city still host parades and displays here.
Architecture
The plaze is made of beautifully carved and polished marble which is kept in immaculate condition by the locals and guards on their days off. Elderly citizens can often be seen polishing the stonework on clear days, and after heavy storms many of the residents band together to clear the space of debris. On clear, sunny days the plaza sparkles like a mirror and can be blinding when viewed from certain angles.
The perimeter is surrounded by homes and businesses made from local stone and wood that contrast against the marble floor.
Tourism
Visitors to the city often stop here to witness the pleasent space and marvel at the communal spirit that can be felt here. Young couples often use the space for proposals and picnics.
