Tinley Settlement in Belthuran | World Anvil

Tinley

The gnomish city of Tinley is where the gnomes settled after their exodus from Hammerock. It is in the elemental caves section of Arcessa, the city is carved out of the rich crystal caverns with new districts being made after the crystals are mined out. Unlike most cities, Tinley is spread out looking similar to an ant or termite nest with tunnels spread out to hollowed-out caves.   There are two major districts the craftsman's district and the clockwork district, Tinley has some of the best jewelers in the world but is also the leading authority on all things clockwork in origin. From striders to golems, to even pocket watches all clockwork owes its existence to the gnomes in one way or another. As such much of the city is run by gears and clockwork, there is a tram system that connects the city through the networks of caves that make the city.   The city is well maintained to the gnomish standards, to others it might seem chaotic and disorganized but to the gnomes it is organized chaos everything is where it needs to be to support the creative minds of the gnomes. There can be piles of various materials outside of shops or workshops and golems moving equipment around seemingly at random but it is all done to help the flow of creativity of the inventors and innovators of the city. Within the city the more you can innovate the higher you can climb in society.
