Material Characteristics

An Arcane heart is not exactly what you might expect upon hearing the name, these are specially formed crystals made of pure Arcane energy that has been cultivated often by an Arcane Elemental but not always so. The reason for the heart part of the name is that holding one is said to feel like a heartbeat in the palm of your hand, and they also form the heart of many arcane enchantments made within the Draz Tyran.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Arcane hearts feel warm to the touch but are ambient temperature, that warmth is the Arcane energy within responding to whatever amounts of Arcane energy is inside the person holding it. These crystals vary in size but the most common ones are about the size of a peach pit though some can grow quite large depending on how long they have been allowed to grow undisturbed.

Geology & Geography

Within the Arcane fields or Crystal Gardens these Arcane hearts can be found growing like fruit among certain trees, or in great formations tended to by Arcane Elementals. In rare cases, they can form in areas that are small but have a heavy saturation of Arcane energy leading to crystal caverns, lakes, or whatever land they form in.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Arcane Hearts are often used to power enchantments within the Draz Tyran, in ancient times they were also a core part of elaborate systems that would gather the energy from the moon, Kindralth to help feed the Arcane Heart helping to recharge and grow the crystal forming a form of a generator. Xoln, The Exhibition, and the Adamantine Palace are the few places where this technology can be readily observed. Should an ancient ruin be uncovered it is possible to find one of these generators possibly even still functional.

Cultural Significance and Usage

The ways to use an Arcane Heart in enchanting were developed within the Draz Tyran, with the Scorathi's rise they have been given the basics needed to use the Arcane Hearts. The Draz Tyran wants to make sure that the Scorathi will use their magic properly, and have access to enchantments as needed but it is also a means for them to observe just how the Scorathi develop the art on their own.
