Conian Isles

Written by kingsteg

The Conian Isles is a small and rather inconsequential group of islands to the north of the mainland continent but is home to a very diverse and interesting people who have there own complex societies and understandings of politics, architecture, and philosophy. Many mainlanders, particularly the Trinistines, are interested in what goes on in these islands, and even go so far as to recruit many of them to fight their wars, as Conians, in general, are no stranger to warfare.

Geography

The Conian Isles are generally very mountainous and are full of valleys and rivers. Compared to other archipelagoes in the world of Batun, the Conian Isles are very abundant in fresh water, which allows for greater reliance on farming. The Conian Sea surrounds the islands on all sides, and is considered by many mainlanders as one of the most beautiful bodies of water, as its waters are clear blue, allowing the human eye to see deep into its waters.

Fauna & Flora

Many species of plants and animals exclusively call the Conian Isles their home, but many are just subspecies of other plants and animals from the mainland. For example, Psaracon is home to the Black fox, which is a subspecies of the Red fox on the mainland. Black palms and Grey oaks are native to the Talassi Islands, and are known for their sturdiness. Many attribute the inhabitants' seafaring success to these trees. Albanicon is home to the Yellow Binx, a large flightless bird that cannot be found in on the mainland. Some were brought to the other Conain islands, but they are native and most abundant in Albanicon.

Natural Resources

The Conian Isles has many mineral resources within its mountains. Gold can be found in certain parts in Psaracon, as well as iron and silver. Albanicon is rich in copper and tin, and supplies the rest of the islands with much of their bronze. The Talassi islands are generally known for their lumber, but the islands, particularly Talsticon, do have iron reserves. Jade can also be found in Bergicon, and is a source of pride for many on the island.
