Haberon

As unpleasant a place to visit as you'll find, Haberon is most known for its cruel and lucrative slave trade. Its citizens are heavily taxed, and any sign of rebellion or disrespect of the crown quickly leads to shackles and chains. The queen takes great delight in having others under her thumb, and gaining her attention is rarely a thing to be desired, save by those of wealth and position.   -Maradeja Bidingsun, Bard of the Royal Elven Court of Silvermoon Forest

Public Agenda

The country of Haberon focuses on two agendas above all else. The first is the reverence of the archdevil Mephistopheles and the second is the promotion and expansion of slavery.

Religion

The worship of the Archfiend Mephistopheles is the state-sponsored religion of Haberon. There are some minor shrines to other devils, but they are only sparsely represented, and none of these are allowed in the capital city. The god Marticon also has a small center of worship, but again, he is not represented in the capital.

Foreign Relations

Haberon has no close allies among the other nations. It counts the elves of Silvermoon Forest as its enemies, as well as numerous dwarven clans from the Dragonheart Mountains. The nation closest to Haberon that has a majority human population is Tharza to the west. The two countries, while not allies, are also not enemies, but do engage in a great deal of trade with each other.

Agriculture & Industry

Agriculture and fishing are the main industries in Haberon. The country also dabbles in whaling, and it has a strong background in armour and weapons as well. There is also a healthy trade in horse and cattle breeding.

Trade & Transport

There is a healthy road system in the country as well as numerous small rivers that are used to barge products throughout. Ships are used to carry goods to and from the port cities.

Education

Few who are not wealthy are well-educated in Haberon. Only those who enter trades that might require something beyond the most rudimentary education are taught more than just the very basics of subjects such as reading and math.
