Gero

The Gero were an ancient people predating the invasion of Marlishmen in the Second Reckoning. They are described in Marlish sources as "witchmen" wielding swords as sharp as steel crafted from simple stone. These accounts also mention a long-lost form of magic involving small sigils etched into runestones. Despite the loss of much of Gero Culture, their descendants, the Gerishmen, preserve aspects of it, maintaining a reverence for stoneworking and natural landmarks. It is believed that the Gero predominantly lived within Mount Gero with potential outposts established around the broader Geryatdale area. The Gero were the only well-known group of people inhabiting the Northern Hinterlands prior to the Marlish Conquest.
