The Pact of the Fallen Star

As far as our purposes are concerned, the Pact of the Fallen Star can be thought of in two separate contexts, and in ways that function as nearly two separate entities, and whose connection is unclear at best.   In perhaps its most historically significant context, it is ostensibly the "order militant" arm of the Dusk Assembly, and has been since the founding of its current formulation. In this role, it functions in an intelligence-gathering role, a special-operations role, and at times in a high level body-guard and protection role for the Veymaran authorities. Given the current occupied state of the diarchy as an occupied but semi-autonomous region, this effectively places the pact under at the very least the indirect control of Telemon, and his ever expanding empire.    The second context under which we have seen the Pact spring up is as a fraternal order with a military and mercenary thematic element. This order does make money by essentially being sell-sword bodyguards and security detail, and use a fair amount of their earnings to set up various charitable organisations within the communities they inhabit. They lean heavily on the historical nature of their order as a draw to members who wish to be a part of something that is both community focused as well as tying into a sense of historical significance. In this context they are seen by most as a novelty and nothing more, though there are certainly some who question whether a deeper connection still holds between the two orders, and more importantly between them and Telemon himself.      A legal and private mercenary company and militant order within the city of Renelestre. They officially hold no specific religious views, and many of their members attend religious services at the many churches within the city, though it has often been speculated (with more than a little evidence) that they are a functioning spy network and military foothold allied with Telemon.   Recently they have come into conflict with the Free Jackals over some allegedly stolen documents from the Library of Dulcet Basillara as well as some violence attempted against the Jackals aboard their own ship.   Their official offices are in central Kew, in the middle class neighborhood known as the Solvari Heights.   Their Coat of Arms consists of a golden star depicted inside a silver basin upon a black field with a red

Structure

The pact seems to operate in "cells" in Renelestre, rather than traditional military heirarchy. There seem to be leaders, or captains, of small bands, around the size of a section or squadron in most other military groups. These report to a number of higher ranking, almost religious figures within the group before reporting to a single, leader that remains unknown, and is referred to, simply, as "The Grand Master."

Public Agenda

Publicly they are an "above board" military organization and mercenary group. Hire-able for projects like defense and security, object retrieval, and general presence of force.
