The Occupied Kingdom of Talanthia
Talanthia is a land of rolling hills, moors, plains, and small forests. It stretches from the bay of Bradford in the east to the Rovan plateau in the west, and from the sea of Golanth in the northland all the way to Raemar in the south. The modern Talanthian is descended from a variety of people groups, not least of which is the original Rova who dominated these lands after the time of the Grey King and up until the Raemish and Talanth peoples moved in. There is said to still be fae blood in some people who live in the western most reaches, though this is merely legend told by old men playing Billyjack in local taverns to explain why their sheep went missing two seasons ago. Talanthia is strictly feudal in its structure as well as its culture, and many of its people aspire to a chivalric code. Recent happenings in Talanthia: The good king Godfrey died (rumors of poison) and his son Rhegaen capitulated to the overlord, who destroyed the capital city and everyone in it who was not killed was rounded up by the the Iron Dwarves (the Overlord’s slave trading allies), and the entire Dukedom of Talanthia was executed. Now Talanthia is comprised of a number of leaderless baronies who are all scrambling to be on the top of the heap while the overlord (who is officially the king’s regent through his puppet king Rhegaen) has his attention elsewhere. Worship of the saints has been forbidden and most of the sanctuaries have been destroyed, though there are still many people who practice in secret. Talanthians are fair-skinned, often ruddy-complexioned, with hair colour ranging from blonde to black. There are many knights’ orders and feudal roles are taken very seriously, as is duty and honor.
