Lysentia Aelis
Grandweaver Lysentia Aelis (a.k.a. The Spider, The Web-Witch)
"Whether or not I am convinced of the truth of these things matters not. What matters here is that the proof you need is currently in my hands, along with my support of your claim." "My claim?" "Let us dispense with the games. I am not so naïve as your dear seaman ally. I know you desire the throne, and I know you have almost the support you need to pull the trigger. I cannot make that play myself--for one thing, the people would not support my kind to rule." "I don't think your race has anything...." "Who said anything about race? I am a woman. That is problematic to them. But that is no matter. Power without pageantry suits me just fine." "So what is it you demand?" "For my support, and your evidence, I want control. You can be king...prince....whatever title you want to call it. I want the rest of the guilds. They won't accept this of course, but... I trust that when things are meted out, you can make that happen. Put me in charge of the others, and I promise you shall have no problem from them in the future. You won't have to suffer the....indignity...your last prince suffered--having to beg the council to get anything done. They will fall in line, behind me; and thus, behind you. That is my price."Lysentia Aelis is a bit of a mystery to most of the other power players in Renelestre. It is known that she emigrated from her home in the World Below sometime in the middle of the fifth century with her three most trusted advisors in tow, but her reason for coming to the Mundane World and what she did before her arrival is subject to much debate and urban myth. She has shocked those in Renelestre by operating exactly how they would expect a lord and person of title to act, while also seeming to gain advantages that others would overlook. Things just seem to fall into place for her, and she seems to always have more knowledge at hand than she ever puts into play at any moment. That being said, for being a member of an ethnicity that is often stereotyped as duplicitous and untrustworthy, she has garnered the trust and support of many in the great city, particularly for her discretion and willingness to abide by her deals and contracts. This itself may shed some light on why she left her birth-home. For now, she remains a mystery. As the head of The Spool, she has gained a nearly invulnerable place in Renelestran society, providing a service that the entire city's elite depend on daily, and has gathered around herself quite the array of guilds who support and owe fealty to her and her faction. Among those who guilds who owe her fealty are The Thimble, The Spindle, and The Sleeker.
