Cardinal's Green

Cardinal's Green is a district in the upper reached of the central City Mount of Renelestre. It is the home to many estates and villas of the extremely wealthy and pious members of the aristocratic elite of Parensatia, as well as a number of other expatriated nobles from the rest of the known world. It sits atop the Ilutan heights, on the Remeny Plateau, extending out to Nobles Point and and crests all the way up to the Renchess Glade, where it joins with the district known as "Arches." It is known for its extensive formal gardens and arboretums, including the Gardener's Pallisade, where the statue of Lord Valoris Dalmas (first of his house) is kept situated in a place of high regard. Cardinal's green is perhaps best known as the district which houses the Villa D'Oasi, where the High Lord Santini Dalmas spends his time.

Demographics

80-85% Parensatian, mostly upper class wealthy. 8-10% Vistaran nobility. The remainder is a mixture of expatriot nobility from Talanthia, Silesia, Dendarra, and other corners of the world.

Government

Local government is run by the traditional Podesta of Gardenia, an elected position, which functions as the primary magistrate for the district. The local council, or Sinoria govenered upon the day-to-day operations and finances of the district. The justice system was in the hands of the "12," Officially the "12 Good Men," an office for which the Church of Saint Dristle appointed 2 members.

Defences

Though not home to many specific defensive capabilities, Cardinal's green was home to many of the church's Knight Orders in addition to its own, very capable military order, the Golden Cypriot.

Infrastructure

Well maintained roads and byways wind through the many churches, gardens, statues, and boulevards in the district. A fully functioning sewer system was one of the first major upgrades this portion of the city spent its wealth on, which contributed greatly to the drop in mortality and protection from plagues that the district experienced, though this was often thought to be because of the "protection of the saints," rather than the up and coming work in the mortal sciences.

Assets

Though not the home of the church itself, Cardinal's Green is graced with a broad and expansive district treasury which has allowed it to display a level of luxury rarely seen in the 5th and 6th centuries.
