EdèksVísutan
The Grand Index of Statutes
In each settlement there is a school. In each school there is the - EdèksVísutan. From this book a student can navigate the complicated and ancient laws of the Realm. These laws being the Will of the Devouring Mother. These laws being the guidance that all citizens must heed and to which all Paragons must ultimately bend the knee of themselves and others. No citizen is above Her Will.
The Edeks maybe a cherished treasure held in the school's library. A copy may find its tattered way into the bag or possession of a student. Perhaps a Student of Suffering or their superior have given copies to those who need to study them the most. Regardless, of its physical state, the true value of the Edeks lies in its contents, and it always begins with these words:
The first section of the Edeks is the listing of the primary nine Statutes and a brief description of each. These can then be used as a guide to select or examine a particular Statute in detail, or as the basis for an exploration of the various Meditations that are also provided via the Ministry of Paragons to assist in a citizen's understanding of the Statutes.
From the First Pronouncements we were given the path to civilization.
From the Second Pronouncements we were given the wisdom to fight for civilization.
From the Third Pronouncements we were given a better understanding of threats to civilization.
The second and all following sections contain local civil laws and regulations. The reality of life in the Realm is that many citizens spend their time attempting to understand these later sections as they typically directly pertain to their specific locality and issue. Each civil authority of a community is unique, some desire to keep their Edeks short and to the point, while others have no issues with adding new laws, regulations, or entire sections depending on the need that they wish address.
