Peace of Everyn (ehv-er-in)

The Peace of Everyn is the name for the formal truce that ended the Everyn War on 20 Fomar Ardt, 1483 2A. It was signed in the great city of Everyn, in the palace that once belonged to the city's genitors. By signing this treaty, the various nations of eastern Ayndrinor swore loyalty to the Emperor and the new Federation, giving up any claims of independence.   Not only was the Peace a treaty, it was also a very rough and open-ended foundation document for the Federation's government. While not enumerating many rights or protections for the provinces, it did give absolute power to the Emperor and his eventual successors. The Emperor has already used this vagueness on rare occasions to browbeat a province into pursuing a certain course of action he desires. Scholars believe the vagueness of the document will make it impossible to rule the provinces in the long run and that the Federation will soon face troubles if the Emperor does not formally codify the system of governance he hopes to install across the continent.

Historical Details

Background

The signing of the Peace marked the formal end to the Everyn War, a conflict that had gripped eastern Ayndrinor for just three years. Most of the region's nations had already surrendered to the Dumein Dominion, but with the taking of the Tallstagger capital the conquest was complete. The leaders of the various territories - now known as the constituent provinces of the Federation - were summoned to the great city of Everyn to sign the treaty and declare their province's loyalty to the Emperor and the new Federation.
