Kyn's Needle

Kyn's Needle is said to be an incredibly sharp, unbreakable needle made of topaz - The Pillar Kyn's holy stone. It is said that it can pierce through anything as if it were air, which can make it incredibly dangerous to handle. Legend has it that if one was to acquire it, one could bind their love to them forever, preventing them from ever straying. It is also said that it could be used to mend other types of relationships, forge alliances, and repair the structure of families and societies. The bonds it forms can only be severed by Rel's Shears or Kyn herself. While most ayla discount this as an utter fairy tale, an allegorical tale rather than a historical one, there are those who believe that Agni, the current Sun, is in possession of it.     When the Nameless God vanished in the cataclysm of the Sundering, a great hole was torn in the fabric of reality and in the hearts of the people. The aylans were hurting, suffering in agony as the tear ripped through their lives, cutting them off from the afterlife and the cycle of souls. From their thrones in the spiritual plane, the Pillars heard the cries of the people and their hearts were moved. After a brief discussion, it was decided that Kyn, the most gentle of the Pillars, would greet the people and see what they could do to ease the pain and quiet the cries.   When Kyn arrived in the physical realm, they found the people in chaos, their bonds to each other and the universe in utter shreds. This, they knew, was the cause of the suffering and the reason for the cries that echoed in the halls of the Pillar's Seat. From their celestial robes, they pulled forth a shining yellow needle, it's length twice the full span of a mighty stone clan's hand, and threaded it with the opalescent thread that binds the universe together. The stars flashed on the Needle as Kyn sewed, working diligently throughout the whole season of Talkyn. As she worked, the suffering of the people eased and their great cries faded to mere murmurs of pain and the great tear was much reduced in size. But as Kyn's season waned, so did their strength. As the final sun of Talkyn set, the great Needle slipped from their fingers and Rel swept them off into the land of rest and dreams.   As the pain of the Sundering ebbed, the people came back to themselves and gazed in wonder at the miracles Kyn had performed. They could once again feel something other than the great ache of the emptiness where the Nameless God had once resided in their souls. They could once again feel the beat of life as it surrounded them, feeling the cries of the land and the universe around them and knowing what it was that they had done. They called a great meeting and the Promise was made - they knew they must repair the damage that they had done. They called out to the Pillars, these new gods who had shown them undeserved kindness in their time of need, and swore to uphold their tenants and to repair the land.
