The Shadow

Overview

The Shadow is an entity within the cosmos of Axeram that falls under the category of deities known as The Venientium . The Shadow is the ruler of the Dreamer's Abyss and gave life to the Fractier. It's capability of possessing the mind of a suitable vessel, allows it to walk amongst crowds unnoticed. Though the full power of the Shadow has to be spread across multiple vessels and have continued expulsion of energy as to not destroy the host.

Appearance

The Shadow itself has no set appearance and it's natural state is unknown. However, when in meeting with another entity, it generally takes a form similar to the observer. It has often been reported taking form similar to the Fractier but wreathed in shadow when in a conversational mood. When threatened or angry it shifts into something more threatening, such as a dragon or even just a vague form with luminescent eyes and a mouth that crackle with energy. The one constant in all depictions and recordings of the Shadow are it's glowing yellow eyes that are present even when inhabiting a host vessel.

History

Much like all of the Ven, the Shadow has been around longer than any historical records. The meeting of the Shadow and Mortals is the first recorded interaction between the Ven and and the mortal races. This interaction between the two has become symbolic to the long history that has followed it.

"The Mortals met the Shadow with fear upon sight. The figure of shadows that formed into the shape of it's guest was too confronting to then primitive minds of mortals. In a fear induced fury the Mortals attempted to combat the wreathed shadows before fleeing into the light. Of all the Ven the Shadow is one of the most disliked by Mortals. Most speculate this is due to their first encounter and that this pattern of hatred has been taught to the next generation, carrying through to modern life. However, amongst Veldren circles there is little hatred towards the Shadow. Most respect it's existence and understand that it plays an important role of reality. The worship of the Shadow whilst heavily shunned by many Mortals is received more positively by those who have studied the culture of Ven and Veldren, as the beliefs formed around the Shadow are less conflicting to the beliefs of The Guardians.
Over the years, there have been many "theorists" who have believed there to be some kind of adversity between the Shadow and The Holy Light, purely based off of their appearance and name. Though anyone who has at least a basic understanding of history and religion within Axeram is aware there is no more conflict between those two then any other Ven and Guardian.
The only Guardian that was actively in conflict with the Shadow after The Mortal Ascension was The Dealer. The reason behind the conflict is unknown but it is widely believed that The Shattered Peak was the result of the Dealer banishing the Shadow. However, ever since this event their have been no sightings of either entity and their fate is unknown to all
