Enemies of Reality, Rivals of Eternals

The X'ith'ila. The "Elders". Gods, even their name sounds pretentious. Though, what can you expect from an unknowable species that wants to wipe out all life? They give Anu a run for their money for their destructive drive. And despite that, we barely know anything about them, even me... It frustrates me to no end... but it's exciting. An unknowable threat. Seems like a battle for the ages.

The X'ith'ila are the creators of the Aberrants and an as-of-now unmet species in Avestra. They hail from the Far Realm where other Eldritch beings lurk but they have designs for the cosmos. They have to see it erased. See every light in the night sky be extinguished. They are the unknown horror, the terror in the depths that prompted the return of the Eternals. As their minions prompt their will, many wonder when they will make an appearance themselves and what will happen when they and the Eternals finally meet in battle.

Average Intelligence

The Elders, through study and interpretation, are believed to possess an intellect far above anyone in Avestra besides the Eternals. Their minions display a hyper-intelligence that hints at a far smarter creator that can think in ways mortals could never hope to understand.

Civilization and Culture

History

Some people have hypothesized the X'ith'ila are in fact Eternals who weren't taken away by the disappearance of Aeternum. They watched as reality was shaped without the presence of their people. And the thought of that drove them mad. The other theory being the X'ith'ila are only Eldritch entities that existed in the Far Realm and grew strong enough to look into the rest of the cosmology and see reality as a whole.

Whatever the case, there is one true fact: The X'ith'ila wanted to wipe out all life and reality as a whole. During the waning millenniums of the Ancient Age, they sent out Aberrations and horrors from the Far Realm. The few conversations with the commanders and soldiers of their forces revealed their supposed hatred of existence. Their superior intellect and strategy devastated the other realms and they were powerful enough to destroy the cosmic barrier that protected Avestra.

If it weren't for the return of the Eternals, they very well could've won and erased everything. However, they never went to face the Eternals and even Eternals such as Eno and Ano have never seen them. As of the current times, the X'ith'ila sit in the Far Realm. What they are planning, no one knows but it'll be something that shakes the foundations of reality.
