The Tarnahk Obelisk (T-arr-naw-ck)
Purpose / Function
Initially requisitioned by Admiral Tarnahk himself, the Tarnahk Obelisk serves as an immortal and unmoving remembrance of Admiral Tarnahk as well as all those billions that died in the destruction of Tortilia. Demonstrating this somber fact, the names of every known person that died there that day are etched into the sides of the base of the obelisk in text so small the words are barely visible. Empty space is left on a portion of the base for more names as they are inevitably discovered each year after the tragedy as the poor souls are confirmed to be departed. Finally, Admiral Tarnahk's name itself was inlaid into the stone at the very top of the structure after he died, weather as a memorial to a life ended too soon becasue of a mistake that anyone else would've made in his place, or as a warning to anyone else who would be so foolish as to let their own negligence bring low the mighty Reorganized Republic of Tortilia being left up to the beholder.
Tourism
Those who live in the capital city of Anvil which shares its name have grown so accustomed to the imposing structure looming in the horizon that they no longer so much as notice it as they pass by, performing their grueling daily duties for the republic. However, many still come regularly to observe the landmark from all corners of Tortilian territory, either to admire its architecture or to mourn loved ones lost on that day.
