Dreamers

Dreamers were a group of early Variants who continued to revere the virtual city of Origin after the first Itera woke up from it. The Dreamers of the 1st Itera longed to return to the city, but when they attempted to do so it was discovered that it was no longer accessible. So back in Citadel, they did everything they could to recreate the life they had back then. They emulated the city in the buildings they sculpted, the clothes they designed and wore and the art they made.   In particular they were inspired by the Field of Dreams, the area on the outskirts of Origin where the rules of reality did not apply and they could do anything. This drove their desire to create tech that would allow them to do all sorts of wild things and push their creativity to the limit. Things like antigravity devices, sculpting tools that altered the properties of the land and wearable tech are just some of the projects the Dreamers started (some more successful than others) in order to achieve complete control over their environment and the laws of physics themselves.   As these Variants raised the next Itera, they passed on their ideas and memories of Origin on to them, so that the city would never be forgotten. These 2nd Itera Kinderwuhns would become the second wave of Dreamers, defined by their wonder and fascination towards a fantastical realm they had never seen but could only dream of. Some of these Dreamers also longed to see Origin for themselves. This would lead to them pushing technological advances even further, in an attempt to somehow make that dream a reality. Other second-wave Dreamers reimagined the Origin "aesthetic" for themselves, and shaped their surroundings accordingly.   Their innovation and spirit of imagination were so persistent that they eventually seeped into wider Variant culture. The other Variants gradually moved beyond simply surviving and learning their tools and became more experimental with their own inventions and ways of working. Modern Variants owe their visionary, creative nature to the seeds the Dreamers planted so long ago.

Very cool! Are the dreamers a type of human or are they a machine intelligence? You're introducing a lot of cool concepts here, but as a newcomer to your world, I'm not sure what's going on besides the fact that it's interesting and... iterative! Thanks for responding to my discord post!
