Lagortha
"In the darkness we find our hope, we find our light"
-Common saying among the Fanatics of the Brilliant Sons
Geography
Lagortha appears at first to be the most normal of the planets. It has a loose variety of plains, rolling hills,, a few deserts. However, Lagortha by an large lacks oceans and mountains containing little natural seawater. Most of the Water Appears to be sourced from underground springs and lakes. This leaves more space for land, by sheer percentage Lagortha has the most landmass of any planet at 64% land coverage.
The Land can seem almost boring were it not for the parlor that overcasts Lagortha. The planet is potent gathering point for both Light and Dark Essence, creating a shadowy parlor over the Lagortha. No area within in truly spared, though the parlor is darker in some places than others. The Gloom is oppressive and rapidly saps away the color, willpower and joy of those who are not native to these lands.
The Sun is rarely seen in Lagortha, and even then the light is cold. The Day brings no comfort and safety.
Ecosystem
Lagortha, being a domain filled with shadow, light and darkness. The essences twist the creatures within, most animals taking on shadow or darkness based natures. Causing them to be darker in color, more vicious, savage and terrifying in appearance. The Animals also tend to be stealthy and are more prone to using fear or ambushing their prey. In this land even the hervibore have been to eat meat when given the chance, more than a few farmer have been eaten by the horses they have failed to feed.
The Trees grow spindly, with dark wood, the leaves either barren or blocking out the light, as though the world itself was out to terrifying those who wander in the brush. Dark ivy grows along and the mold grows in thick green clumps, the stench often being reminiscent of death. Even food can take on this parlor, the local crops having macabre or bloody appearance or names.
Ecosystem Cycles
On Lagortha, Summers and springs are short. Fall is long, winter even more so. However, there is no dormancy during the cold period, animals hunt and crops grow even when the snow litters ground. There is no peace, there is always time for war, the lords care little for the timing.
Localized Phenomena
With Lagortha have a macabre parlor over itself, their weather phenoma would be disturbing to outsiders. A Few Examples Include:
Screeching Storms- Winds that howl without precipitation, ear piercing and devastating. The screeching the storm makes can be varied, from resembling bestial creatures or unearthly abominations, to the undead, the crying of women and children. Some even claim to have heard the voices of loved ones. The wise find cover when a storm occurs, the people who cannot find safety often survive the event unharmed, but never quite the same.
Sanguine Showers- Thick heavy droplets of drain that appear to be red in color, carrying the stench of blood, any water consumed during the storm has an iron like taste to it, the water becoming more viscous, achieving a consistency akin to heavy cream. However, once a shower ends, the water will taste normal and return to its normal viscosity and any cloth stained by the Sanguine rain will not leave a mark on it. Despite the macabre appearance, it is considered good fortune to the residents, as this rain helps crops grow, or so old wives tales say
Vicious Cyclones - Cylindrical Tunnels of Wind, grey and white in color, accented by a sickening green, as though the winds were an infected wound on the planet itself. The Cyclones appear to be malicious in nature and during their brief existences seem to strike farms and small towns, actively trying to ruin as many lives as possible. Few die from the winds themselves, many more perish from hunger as their crops are ruined by this weather. Any successful town keeps a cleric or a druid on hand to turn away such winds.
Mad Moons- Every year Lagortha's Twin Moons, Sorrow and Strife will align, casting the planet in a sickening purple palor for two weeks (20 days). During this time the behavior of the residents become more erratic, and destructive. The populace is cursed with horrific nightmares, and the beast the slumber in the dark become emboldened, targeting the weak and foolish. The Wise Lagorthan preps enough rations for himself and his family, and hides in their room or in the cellar and waits it out. Never leaving their house.
And these are only a few of the more "normal" weather patterns.
Natural Resources
Lagortha is in possession of resources such as water, wood, metals and other common materials but they are known for two things in the galaxy at large.
Their Produces is the largest in the land, yet also the tastiest, the food grows to be large in size and bountiful in number, though only those in Rosegarten have the luxury of selling their produce.
Lagortha is also the largest producer of Light, Dark and Shadow Essence Crystals. Given the usefulness, yet rarity of Essence Crystals, thousands flock to Lagortha to get their hands on these valuable items, as no magic items can function without essence crystals.
History
Lagortha was the last planet formed after the end of the first era. It was a locus for dark and light essence, some of the oldest scholars believe that Lagortha must have been the site of either a battlefield, or a cemetery. Lagortha was also among the last to truly develop an ordered society, the vicious monsters, curses and threats slowing down their development. Their rise to civility truly began with the appearance of the Radiant.
The Radiant was Lagortha's first immortal, who upon his ascension chose a Celestial from, a symbol of his willingness to create order out of the shadow of Lagortha. And for thousands of years he had succeeded, under the Radiant's guidance the lands calmed down, and the people of these lands were able to create safety and prosperity.
This peace would last until the second lord of war made his appearance Lord Sange, better known as the beast lord, carved out his section of the lands, rejecting the peace, guiding and leading the monstrosities that had been pushed back by the radiant. With the arrival of this lord, the flood gates were opened and new immortal Lords of War would arise, fall and take their places in history. However, only five remain.
The Beast Lord, who leads the menageries, a varied army of monsters and magical beasts, who hunger for the power within Rosegarten.
The Gilded Lord, who leads the Gilded Host, a professional army in debt to it's ruler forever searching for coin to satisfy their greed, and abate their loans.
The Sorrow, She leads the Returned, an army of the undead and the mages that control them.
The Twisted, she leads the grotesques, an army of artificial horrors, birthed from the disturbed mind of their rules.
The Radiant fights to protect rosegarten, the richest land in Lagortha. The other lords fight desperately to claim rosegarten for themselves.
War is all that remains in these dreary lands
Tourism
Few come to Lagortha for pleasure, as there is little to be had. Most people visit this land for business. Either to get their hands on Lagorthan produce, which grows larger and faster than food grown elsewear, without sacrificing flavor, or they come to recruit soldier for their endeavors. The Terrible conditions make the Lagorthans the Hardiest of the human folk. The only Lord of Wars of War that encourage visitors are the Radiant, And The Gilded Lord. Their capital cities see some visitors, but most come to get work done and make some money. The Locals prefer it that way.
