Legend of Limien and Oscar
This is a more recent legend that is being spoken about by the people of Forsingtuna.
It says that a human adventurer by the name of Oscar lived in Forsingtuna.
He went out into the forest to slay bandits, trolls, ogres and other beasts to keep the people that travel the road through the Northern Forest safe.
Every week he would return with tales of heroism of slaying monsters and saving travellers and hunters.
Over time he would disappear for weeks on end, people started to go look for him and discovered he fell in love with a dryad called Limien that lives in the Northern Forest.
The people at first thought she altered his mind, controlling him but eventually realised their love was true.
Oscar was so in love with Limien that he stayed with her for a long time, barely doing any adventuring or beast slaying. Word of Oscar and Limien the dryad spread through the city of Forsingtuna. Eventually bandits that lost many of their members to Oscar got wind of what was going on. They banded together and went to seek him out. They surprised Oscar as Limien was singing a song to him.
Using this opportunity the bandits attacked, surprising Oscar and Limien. The bandits mortally wounded Oscar, he fought as best he could but was overwhelmed by the large group of bandits and was slain.
Everything happened so fast that Limien barely had any time to focus and cast her magic to help Oscar, as Oscar fell to the ground with many wounds the bandits ran away.
As he was laying on the ground, dying, Limien came to his side and embraced him in a hug. She wept and experienced overwhelming sadness she didn't know existed. As Oscar drew his last breath, holding Limien with one arm, Limien vowed to never leave his side.
The people eventually discovered what had happened and wanted to take Oscar to bury him.
However Limien stayed still, holding Oscar, making it impossible for the people to take his body without hurting her so as Limien begged and wept they ended up leaving Oscar to Limien.
Over the years Limien hadn't moved an inch, she stayed still and eventually entered a hibernation state, making her human like body turn into wood. As the decades passed, people mostly forgot about Oscar and Limien. Becoming only a legend or myth of the forest. Some say that someone with a keen eye may be able to find Oscar's body fused with Limien.
