Session 22: The Turning Tides

General Summary

As our group awoke to a new day in Muli, and a commotion in the Guildhall of the Guild of Adventurers. Zat informs them that it's Beach Day. As Gordon arrives to drive our group to the beach!
Loanedth, not a fan of sun nor sea, decides to spend beach day out by the Cool Rock. There, they see a group of Svirfneblin experimenting with a mushroom. They introduce themselves as members of a Circle of Spores, and one of the deep gnomes, Tzippora, offers a trade: in exchange for being their guinea pig, they will introduce the druids' magic to them. While they undergo their first parts of training, Loanedth recieves a letter from a contact in the Encarta Family. She tells Loanedth that their valuable skills would pay well, and the Encarta's would be able to provide both protection and resources, in exchange for service and a cut.
When they look up from reading the letter, Loanedth realizes they are in an enless darkness, and once more face their mysterious patron, The Undying. They fill Loanedth in on their part of the pact: they must do whatever possible to stop Nil-enor Ulkas from resurrecting the gods.
Gul'Khaan decides to seek out Raikira Vorjid, who is surprised he does not just want to speak to her brother. The two rest  in the sun, as Raikira fills in Gul on their past: the two are decendents of a rich and powerful family in Muli, and Jindaar is set to be the inheritor of their fortune. The two of them both have been groomed and tutored in everything they need to know about inheriting the business, their choices in life set for them since birth. One would think that Raikira be free of this control, but she cannot easily break from her family. Raikira laments that their time in the Guild of Adventurers is temporary, for when their father 'retires', the two will be recalled. Gul'khaan decides to bathe in the sun with her, leaving behind her past and future and focusing on the now.
Nil-enor, as usual, spends his Beach Day reviewing the possibility of resurrecting the Old Gods. With some books borrowed from Xandeyr's library, he looks for sightings of the gods in their form as Guardian. Some have reported sightings of a mysterious travelling smith who creates legendary items, others a woman of the woods, helping lost travellers and injured animals. But sighting are difficult to track to the current day. Nil-enor's musing are paused when Beauty, the deaf Tiefling from the Green Village. Nil-enor rants about the Old Gods' inevitable return, but keeps information close to his heart: with the possibility of returning them now mroe real than ever, Nil-enor fears who might hear.
Nil-enor also runs into Hatano, and gets them alone to discuss Hatano possibly looking out for fragments of the Black Stone. Hatano surprisingly knows exactly what Nil-enor is speaking of: Loanedth had sold them one. A flabbergasted Nil-enor asks to buy it back, but unfortunately Hatano has already sold it on, and refuses to reveal their buyer's identity. A fuming Nil-enor confronts Loanedth, telling the Myconid that they have betrayed his trust, and tells Loanedth to get the stone back. Loanedth, feeling betrayed by one of the only people they have begun to trust since the loss of their friend. Loanedth abruptly recalls the rapport spores that make possible the group chat, and walks away. Before Nil-enor can give chase, Zat stops Nil-enor and asks what's wrong. Unable to yell at the pure child, Nil-enor leaves in a huff to find Xandeyr.
William Grimhound, relaxing on a beach chair while U'la Grimhound plays in the surf, tries to figure which of the two major schools of magic in Muli to enroll U'la in. William is met by Bryta Traexa, the Guildmaster, who asks about his desire to enroll her. Bryta informs William that the two schools are little more than shams, and offers personal tutoring to U'la. However, she stresses her personal philosophy on magic: that it is dangerous, and only a patient and focused soul deserves to have that power. U'la informs Bryta about her reasons for wanting to learn magic, and Bryta accepts her as a pupil. With a little bit of flourish, Bryta apperates a fiery phoenix on a distant rock.

And our group reaches level 7!
