Z&B Episode 5: No! Parachute!
[Exterior high altitude sweeping wide view] Zoot and Buff are flying three ultralights. <small gas-powered engine noises or electric motor whirs during exterior views> <computerized beeps whenever an interior cockpit view is shown> They weave and swoop around each other and wave happily to each other. (The Zoots are wearing parachutes. Buff is wearing safety-orange earplugs.)
[closeup] Buff looks down.
[from far above] There is a large marking down on the ground indicating a helicopter port or similar landing spot.
[return closeup] Buff looks out and points down at it.
[closeup] Female Zoot sees his gesture, glances down, looks back at him and nods approvingly. She presses a button. <Beep> Her ultralight straightens up suddenly.
[return] In his cockpit Buff reaches to a large button with a home symbol on it. He lets go of the control stick and presses the home button and his ultralight straightens up suddenly (flying on autopilot). He removes his safety belt and turns to the side as if to jump out.
[return] Female Zoot is out of her seat as well with a noticeable parachute. She looks out, smiles at Buff, and jumps.
[return] Grinning Buff jumps out too.
[closeup] Male Zoot in his ultralight looks down on them from above. The two ultralights in unison turn and head away as the two freefall.
[Alternating views] The two happily tumble and fall doing acrobatics in the sky. <Harsh wind>
[return to Male Zoot] Male Zoot gets concerned at something he sees below. From afar, it can be seen that Buff is falling slightly faster than Zoot.
[wide view] Buff tumbles and barrel rolls happily. He spreads out prone and enjoys the view. He looks to the side for Zoot. Less happy, he looks to the other side for Zoot. He scans the area below him.
[from less far above] The ground is closer.
[camera tracking him, rolling around all angles and zoomin in and out] Worried, he cranes his head to look above him to either side, but the sun above blocks his vision. He starts to panic, flailing his arms and legs and looking around desperately as tears well up and drip from his eyes. He rolls on his back momentarily but sees only the sun, trying to shade his eyes. He rolls back belly-down and cries with heavy breaths.
[Camera rolls down below him looking up] Out of the sun comes Female Zoot spearheading down toward him.
[Camera pans around and above Buff] Zoot swoops down and tackles him from behind, wrapping her arms around his waist/chest. Her momentum turns them both over (facing the camera above them).
[Closeup] Buff is greatly relieved to feel Zoot's grip. He holds his arms up as she let's him spin around to face her in her arms. Tears still in his eyes, he hugs her tightly with his arms and legs, not able to reach around her parachute.
[extreme closeup] She pulls two ends of a safety belt from her waist and snaps them together behind the small of Buff's back. <click>
[Closeup] They smile, he gratefully, and she gladly. She looks down. [Closeup] She pulls the ripcord on her parachute. His grip on her shoulders is insecure. <Tearing sound>
[Full view head to toe from below] As the chute deploys, His head and arms are thrown back and his legs slip. Her head is thrown onto Buff's chest and her arms and legs dangle forward.
[extreme Closeup] The safety belt on Buff's back breaks and unfastens. <Snap!>
[closeup slow motion] Both look into each other's eyes in the instant they realize Buff is falling again. They reach out to grab each other's hands but don't get a good grip and he slips.
[extreme closeup] she is disparing.
[extreme closeup] he is disparing. He rolls backward offscreen.
[closeup feet] Their feet are entangled. He turns upside down, swinging behind her.
[head to thigh] She has an idea. She pulls loose her trick belt buckle and tosses it down, trailing a grapple line to her waist.
[wide view Buff to Zoot's feet] Buff begins to swing forward again. The belt buckle and it's line descend in front of him. His feet slip from Zoot's feet. He wildly grabs at the buckle and catches it with both hands.
[closeup] Zoot is relieved, partially.
[Zoot's POV] Buff dangles, swinging, clutching the belt buckle with his fingers interlaced. He is very frightened. The ground below him is still far but much less far than before. The landing pad can be seen below.
[Buff's POV] Zoot is worried, above him. Her parachute is holding well. She presses a button on her waist, and the line starts reeling in slowly. In the distance behind her the third ultralight is diving toward them.
[continuous, track the ultralight] Swoops below and behind Zoot, then turns harshly nose-up and hovers under Buff's feet. Buff descends until his feet are standing on top of the wing. Zoot descends as the line reels her toward Buff. When she is in reach, Buff hugs her tightly and pulls her down until her feet also stand on the wing.
[cockpit view] Male Zoot look up at the wing above him, worried. The aircraft quickle dips a few inches, then regains, repeatedly. He looks down at the control panel.
[extreme closeup] The gage labeled, "Air Speed", goes to zero. The gage labeled, "Wind Speed", is bouncing around 10kph.
[rear head to waist] Buff hugs Zoot tightly as they bounce with the shaky aircraft. Zoot reaches around to her parachute backpack and slaps a corner. <Whir!> The parachute cords reel in to the pack, followed by the parachute fabric.
[cockpit] Male Zoot is still bouncing and holding the control stick steady with all his might.
[extreme closeup] The gage labeled, "Air Speed", is still zero. The gage labeled, "Wind Speed", moves from 10 to negative 10kph.
[extreme closeup] His eyes grow wide.
[wide view] <all wind noise stops> The aircraft turns nose-down and falls.
[tracking] <very slight whistling of wind> Female Zoot's shoes adhere to the wing. The parachute entirely rolls into her backpack. Buff clings to her, weightless.
[cockpit] Male Zoot has been craning his neck to see the two on top of the wing. He looks at the ground ahead with determination and grips the control stick tightly again.
[wide view] Very close to the ground now, the ultralight pulls up and again nearly stalls out, barely moving.
[atop wing] Buff and Zoot feel gravity now. They crouch down and slip inside the aircraft.
[cockpit] Male Zoot is now happy. He looks left and right to Buff and Zoot now seated behind him. They look to him, then at each other. Then he looks ahead and steers as they hug behind him.
[wide view] The aircraft comes in for a landing on the ground next to the landing pad, next to the other two ultralights which had already landed. Zoot's convertible is nearby.
[pull back and fade to black]
