Captain Nessa Aletko Moreva (a.k.a. Ness)

The UNSS Asteria’s commanding officer is one Captain Nessa A. Moreva, a level-headed and kind woman from the half-frozen ocean world of Qailertetang. Nicknamed "Ness" by her friends, the good captain runs a solid crew of spacers with firm and fair authority. She has been in command of the ship for about a decade now, taking over the position around the time when the former shipmind swapped jobs with Chuck. As the ship’s commanding officer, Nessa’s job is to keep the crew in order and in high spirits, oversee missions, and serve as diplomat (with the help of Chuck and Comms Officer Kirrt Surr, when necessary).
Ness is rather tall and quite strong (having trained in supergravity for certain missions), but it is not hard to get her to show her softer side. One of her favorite pastimes is sculpture carving, which she picked up from local fishermen during her childhood on Qailertetang. One of her closest friends is a Qailerti orca by the name of Cloud Watcher, whom she regularly corresponds with.
