Kirrt Surr is the communications specialist on the UNSS Asteria; which is not a strictly necessary position, but it is helpful to have a translator besides the AI -and, more importantly, someone who knows how to fix the communications equipment when it malfunctions. Surr is unusual in being a ziirb outside Nzmarri Unity space, but growing up on the shared colony world of @Mrr Haixyto[location] made xen more receptive to the idea of exploration and interacting with other species and cultures.
Surr is annoyingly paranoid even for a ziirb. Diego likes to joke that xe would wear a tinfoil hat if xe could. However, xe is a valued member of the crew who does xens job very well, and often xens overcaution-rooted risk assessments are accurate.
