Shadow Wars

The dwarves and drow have been at conflict with one another for the last several thousands of years ever since the worshippers of Lolth were driven underground. Driven by the Spider Goddess's desire for chaos, the drow eyed the great dwarven cities with greed and longing. And there is no dwarven city grander than Strakelgar. Over the milleniums, drow and dwarves would fight for territory and resources.   The dwarven cities proved more resilient as they were built as defensive strongholds. Eventually the drow realized they would have turn to more deceptive strategies to defeat the dwarves. The opportunity to strike came when Strakelgar became embroiled into the surface chaos near the end of the Great War. The drow used the dwarves' distraction to infiltrate their great city and assassinate many clan leaders and other notable figures within Strakelgar. The drow continued these shadow strikes until the dwarves launched a full scale war that lasted around a decade. This series of battles would become known as the Shadow Wars.   During these years, the dwarves lost Korimm to the drow. However, with the end of the Great War, meant the dwarves could focus solely on combating the threat below ground. Their renewed focus turned the tide of the war in their favor and the drow wisely retreated back to their shadowy homes. For now, both sides lick their wounds, but conflict seems inevitable.
