Description:

The Gateway of Maleficium is an ancient, foreboding structure made of dark, obsidian-like stone, etched with crimson runes that glow ominously in the darkness. The gateway is flanked by twisted, gnarled trees that seem to shun its malevolent presence, their branches reaching away as if in fear. The air around the gateway is heavy with the stench of sulfur and brimstone, and a perpetual mist lingers, adding to its eerie ambiance.

History:

• Origins: The Gateway of Maleficium was created thousands of years ago during the Great Demon War by a powerful demon lord named Belzarthor. This gateway served as a conduit for demon armies to invade and wreak havoc upon the mortal realm. It was a time of great chaos and destruction, with the forces of darkness threatening to engulf the entire kingdom of Asiendal.
• The Sealing: After the defeat of Belzarthor by Eremon Mordos, the gateway was sealed by an alliance of the kingdom’s greatest mages and priests. They used a combination of powerful enchantments and divine blessings to lock the gateway, ensuring that it could never be used again. For centuries, the seal held strong, and the gateway remained dormant, a silent sentinel of a bygone era.
• Recent Events: In recent years, mysterious disturbances have been reported around Harrow’s Edge. Local farmers and villagers began to disappear, livestock were found mutilated, and strange, unearthly sounds echoed through the night. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the ancient seals on the Gateway of Maleficium had begun to weaken, allowing low-tier demons to slip through and sow chaos in the surrounding area.

Current State:

The gateway now hums with dark energy, the runes pulsating with an insidious red glow. While it was believed to be abandoned and inactive, it was evident that dark forces are at work, attempting to fully reactivate the portal. Low-tier demons such as imps, shadow hounds, and lesser fiends could've been seen emerging from the gateway, spreading fear and destruction. It was destroyed by the High Princess.
