Ashton Manor

Ashton Manor is a large, creepy old house located to the north of Ashton Creek. It was built in 1881 by Amos Ashton, the town's founder, as his private residence. It is the oldest building in the town, still standing, since the original Ashton Sawmill was destroyed in 1994. The mansion is a grand and imposing structure, with high walls and a gabled black tile roof. It is built in the Victorian style, with intricate woodwork, stained glass windows, and a large front porch with elaborately carved columns.

Despite its former grandeur, Ashton Manor is now dilapidated and abandoned, with peeling paint and broken windows. The mansion has a reputation for being haunted, and many people, especially younger ones, believe that it is home to the ghosts. A particularly popular theory is that Amos Ashton himself continues to reside there in undeath. Despite this, the house is still a popular destination for thrill-seekers, who are drawn to its creepy reputation and its mysterious history.

After Amos Ashton's death in 1902, the mansion was inherited by Harry Linebeck, a close friend of Ashton's, who lived there for many years. However, the house eventually fell into disrepair, and it has been abandoned for decades. In 1943 it was struck by lightning, which burned down an entire wing of the manor. Despite this, once a year on a night of a full moon some time in May, the manor appears to be fully restored and as new. Even the destroyed wing of the house returns, only to once again become dilapidated and ruined when the sun rises.
