Led by Julius Grey, Humans Land in Portsend at the Northwest tip of the Draak'thor Massiff in what is now known at the First Wave.

The First Wave

The first humans to arrive in Arrhynsia crossed the Ur Hilgarria to arrive in the town of Portsend located in the Draak'thor Massiff in the Dwarven Kingdom. Two ships, the Serendipity and Wayfarer arrived in year 0 of the current Era from Eryia, a continent referred to in ancient human texts. The new arrivals were led by Julius Grey an intrepid explorer and universally admired leader. Journal entries from the leader's diary indicate that the humans were fleeing from a repressive regime that persecuted those who did not conform to government approved patterns of thought and behavior. These included members of religious groups, those with unique gender or sexual behaviors, the dispossessed wealthy, the destitute poor, and magic users. These travelers were attracted to Arrhynsia, locating it by their ability to track untapped and uncorrupted magical leylines with which Arrhynsia is generously provisioned.   The humans meant no harm or trouble and settled peaceably in the dwarven kingdom at first. The dwarven pre-occupation with underground life pre-disposed them to view the humans in a benign light. But Jullius Grey suspected that settling in lands already occupied by another race would eventually create conflict between them, and he began to explore looking for unoccupied land for his people to settle.   At the time of the first settlement, the cataclysm had not yet occurred, and it did not take Grey long to discover North Arrhynsia. The land was arable and warm, with verdant plant life, plentiful fresh water, and rich mineral deposits. It was laced with powerful uncorrupted leylines, and best of all, no sentient races had settled in the land. A short voyage across a small stretch of the Ur Hilgarria provided a passable trading route by sea, but the treacherous waters ensured that large scale military interactions with dwellers of the main continent would be a significant challenge.   In short, it was perfect.
Aided by the dwarves, the human settlers packed up most of their goods and people, and sailed across the Halphon Straits to their new home.
