Y'thosra Species in Arrhynsia | World Anvil

Y'thosra

Do you see that? That's Steelsongs's mark. This is the place, Y'thosra'a Den, where she was last seen over two hundred years ago. No one knows where she went, but everyone knows her quest... a sad, desparate attempt to find the last of her kind.

In Search Of...

Y'thosra, the cunning, is a lady like no other - literally. She's the last of her kind, a poignant ending note in the history of striking, intelligent species. Just over two hundred years ago, Y'thosra abandoned her lair of five hundred years in the Draak'thor Massiff to seek out a mate after she finished mourning the death of her mate Leltran and the destruction by unknown persons of her last clutch of eggs. With her disappearance, the empty lair and broken eggshells are all that remain of a once prominent predator species on the main continent of Arrhynsia.   Y'thosra was of a species of land bound fire dragons. Given the nature of Saynleh and his claim on all who have dragon blood be it ever so minute, it seems reasonable to believe that this last female would set out for the Chromatic Continent to find a mate to continue her species. Saynleh of course transforms his people into full blooded dragons as they exhibit his character, and speculatively, could create a partner from an elevating male for fire dragoness. Of course, her precise destination can only be a mystery, possibly as much to her as to any detractors or well wishers. What is certain is that her departure has made the locale of Maram and the road to Horndahl much less dangerous.   Y'thosras prior mate Leltran, often preyed on local inhabitants which led to his hunt and eventual killing by Stone Throne Rangers. Y'thosra herself did not typically prey on sapient species, but she did make many meals of domesticated herd and flock animals. It is suspected that local farmers were responsible for the destruction of her last clutch of eggs when the land bound fire dragon was out hunting, a vulnerability she suffered due to the loss of her mate.   Some believe that Y'thosra is not dead, but will return to her lair one day with a new mate to lay eggs. Others believe that she is dead, her body lost to the ravages of time and weather. Still others believe - or perhaps hope - that Y'thosra found a new mate in the Chromatic Continent and there raises a new clutch of young in hopes of bringing her species back from the brink of extinction.   Y'thosra's Den is a major travelers landmark, being situated as it is somewhat near thecrossroads of the Uftlon Kingsway and the Horndahl Byway and marked by a stone circle of likely ancient dwarven hertitage. Since the abandonment of the lair by it's namesake the cave has been inhabited by the renegade Steelsong Clan during their rebellion against the leadership of Urth Orehart of the Stone Throne before their removal to Steelsong Mountain in the Spiral Mountain Range near the Echovad Forrest. Current residents of Y'thosra's Den is a Circle of the Earth Druid enclave led by High Druid Sigmund of Ykndra's Stand fame.
