Trial of Frost

During the Dark Days, the nation of Morydal undergoes one of its greatest trials. The precious little water they have either dries up or is frozen halfway through this lightless time. On especially cold years, some have even reported frost forming on the baren sand and rocks. With a limited supply of burnable materials, fires both both warm and visibility are limited to enclosed spaces such as caves and a handful of insulated structures where the heat can be trapped. The majority of the population will retreat into the nearest mine to wait out long night, but even this is no guarantee of safety. The unique variants of monstrosities that emerge during the Dark Days have been known to not let solid rock stand between them and their prey, burrowing large holes into the mines. Not only does this give them access to the confined spaces that their victims will be unlikely to escape from, but it release whatever heat they had trapped in their out into the freezing desert. Generations of trial and error have yielded many methods and techniques to repel these horrors and discourage them from burrowing into the mines, but nothing is guaranteed. Just like nearly every other aspect of life in Morydal, this is just another trial in which each member of the Braided Tribes must prove that they deserve to walk beneath the glory of the Three Flames.
