The World of Aroka

Welcome to the World of Aroka. This article is designed to introduce you to what makes Aroka unique.

Firstly, Aroka's skies look quite different from what we see on Earth. There are Three Suns that travel through the sky. Their positions vary throughout the year, but they always move together, essentially serving the same function as our one sun.

Secondly, the Three Suns aren't the only objects in the sky. There is a fourth the is large enough to block out The Light from the suns as they travel behind it. In most cases, this isn't too big an issue since not all Three Suns are behind this object with the exception of five days out of the year. This is referred to as the Dark Days and signals the end of the year on most Arokan Calendars.

Thirdly, there is absolutely no celestial light during the Dark Days or during any night on Aroka. The sky is pitch black; no starlight. Aroka had a moon for the majority of its history so far, but it was destroyed during the First Firefall.

Fourthly, speaking of calendars, Aroka calendars that use the Dark Days to mark either its beginning or end are 1000 days. During this year, there are two winters, peaking at days 50 and 250, and two summers, peaking at days 550 and 950. Of note, Arokan days are shorter than Earth days, lasting only 21.9 hours, though their hours are calculated differently, resulting in 25 Arokan hours in their day.

Fifthly, Aroka is populated primarily by beings called Anthropes, which are essentially animalistic humanoids. There are a handful of other ancestries, some believed to be descendants of ancient ancestries that predate anthropes, while others, such as Dryn and Varyn, that are much more recent, having arrived at the end of the Age of Ice.
