House Inmar

Located on the southwest coast of Eregoth's main island, House Inmar vies with House Medici for trade through the southern straights.

Structure

House Inmar subscribes to the common Eregothian structure of nobility. They hold the place of Dukes in their own lands, with their Counts below them and Barons further down the strata. Knights rank below them, followed by the common Gentry, who stand still above the peasantry.

Public Agenda

House Inmar acts as the primary producer of wood and lumber products out of the Caspin Forest, and use that advantage to bring other Houses under their sway. House Beufort is particularly beholden to them, as they rely on the Inmar for timber to build their famous warships. They use this advantage to try to slowly "take back" the Summer Islands, which they believe is theirs by right.   They hold a deep hatred fro Druids, having purged the Druidic Circles that once inhabited and protected the Caspin Forest and forcing them northward into Beaufort lands. The few Druidic Circles that remain in the Caspin Forest are bound in service to House Inmar, forced to sustain the forest with new growth so the Inmar can remain kings of the Eregothian timber industry for all time.

Assets

House Inmar's primary asset is the Caspin Forest, massive in scope and magically sustained by Druids indentured to the House. Beyond that they hold nearly all the paper mills in Eregoth, and so control much of the information that travels throughout the realm. They are the House most favored by House Cervantes, having originated as a cadet branch of the Royal House, and use their influence to great effect.

History

House Inmar originated on the Isle of Inmar, south of Hex Lock, along with what would eventually become House Cervantes. When Cervantes left the Isle of Inmar to take Eregoth from the Yuan-ti and force them underground, the Inmar were their closest allies and fought by their side throughout the war. For their loyalty they were rewarded all the lands south of House Cervantes, only to have them slowly whittled away as lands were awarded to newcomers and invaders from Norstir.

Territories

House Inmar holds much of the southern peninsula of Northern Eregoth, as well as a number of the southernmost Summer Islands. Their lands are dominated by the massive Caspin Forest, but most settlements land along the surrounding coast.

Military

House Inmar is famous for their archers, training the most powerful longbowmen for counter-siege, open field, and urban combat. There is a strong hunting culture among the peasantry, and very few grow up without being capable of working a bow. This makes military conscription a very simple process, and many young men and women treat their time in the military as a rite of passage.

Religion

House Inmar holds Pelor and Ehlonna both in equal regard, and viciously suppress worship of Obad-Hai.

Foreign Relations

House Inmar is tied closely to the Royal House Cervantes, having originated as members of the House, and are often rumored to be the power behind the throne. The compete constantly for trade dominance with House Medici and House Blake. House Beaufort, while not explicitly beholden to them, must pay attention to House Inmar's will and keep ties fair if they wish to continue building the Eregothian navy hosted on the coast of Beaufort lands.
