Heor the Spear

Heor the Spear was the leader of the Heoringas. He came from the far north, beyond the Tiril Bridge. In 907 he led the Heoringan Invasion into Aressa, claiming vast lands south and east. He declared himself Emperor of the Empire of Heor, and ordered the building of the Palaf Kron as his capital. Soon afterwards, the two coalitions of the east and west formed, and Heor was pushed back. He eventually held both coalitions at bay at Sor Grensen, but by that point he was forced to accept defeat. It is believed that, following the end of his Empire, his lands in the north were attacked by other northerners, drawing Heor's attention away from Aressa and preventing him from interfering as the coalitions reformed into the Feuding Kingdoms.
While the spear was then considered by Aressans to be the weapon of those who could not use a better one, Heor trained large numbers of his soldiers in formations and the use of spears. He was thus able to easily defeat many forces who were not accustomed to formation fighting or could not engage his spearmen for lack of weapons long enough to safely attack. The coalitions were often forced to rely on mages to scatter the formations, after which the Heoringan spearmen were easier to fight.
