Seyat Sa Ra

A general term for any or all of the homeless, roaming tribes of Southern Olveiria, believed to be the descendents of the original inhabitants of the area.   Although none of these peoples owe official heritage to any particular nation, they are all granted citizenship within the Batsalian Union. Though it is believed that over a hundred distinct peoples once walked Southern Olveiria, only about fifty surviving scions have been identified, split between five broad categories.   Gulau Meaning "the ancient" in old Laizhii, the Gulau peoples seem more closely related to the modern Taqseyat, but they lack cohesive tribes with which to identify. The Gulau include the Qin, the Suruso, the Arabasi, the Hurabasi, the Guul, the Cro, the Shrii, and the Sulinn.   Shkaii Meaning "the seventeen" in old Laizhii, the Shkaii are lesser cadet peoples of the ancient Laizhii, principally though not exclusively found in Laizhou and Carnad. The best-known Shkaii include the Tal Suei, the Xinians, the Green People, the Surubasi, the Zhu Guaun, the Armored Folk, and the Bentai Sul.   Xiaii Meaning "the western seven" in old Laizhii, the Xiaii are believed to have ancestral ties to both the Laizhii and the Carnai, likely descendents of ancient peoples conquered by both. The Xiaii include the Nuquul, the Garugaru, the Xisun, the Coal Burners, the Tower Folk, the First Fisher Kings of Wun (typically called Fisherfolk), and the Timberfolk.   Qainfolk Meaning "Shadow people" in old Laizhii, the Qainfolk are thought to be diverged descendents of the Qai Shai, who are thought to be the ancestors of the Wundish. The Qainfolk include Tulunese, the Qaiese, the Schadd, the Grozai, the Axai, the Ferdfolk, and the Children of the Other Eye (typically called Seers or Sleepers or Dreamfolk).   Shennen From the old Laizhii for "Hill," the Shennen are thought to have descended from the original inhabitants of what are now the Yenarri and Scattarax Hills. Among their numbers are the Urupai, the Hazeans, the Kanzenese, the Buluq, the Yulmer, the Stichoi, and the Sornori.
