Olhoria

An ancient people that fell during the Orckid Conquest. The Olhoria appear to have been a hill-dwelling folk, residing in or around the northeastern tip of the Orvyx Mountain Range. Many have suggested they may have lived in the mountains, in the deep caverns now invested with wyrms, sphynxes, and mountain ylls. In an ancient spell that has been respelt many hundreds of times, a virtuoso who helped conquer the area described the Olhoria as squat and ghast, covered in patchy red hair, with yellow eyes and glowed in the night.   Yet if the Olhoria were cave-dwellers, it is difficult to understand why the Orckids would have disturbed them. By all records, the empire held no regard for gems or gold, nor even iron ore, even into the late era. This disinterest in ores is famously cited as one of the reasons Orckid fell to the Mornal Invasion. What interest could the empire have in mountains and caves, then?   The town of Olhorianesi, resting upon the great Olmont Hill, was named to honor these fallen foes, as was the custom for the empire. It is possible they actually lived in the area and perhaps even had a defensible settlement atop Olmont. Little more is known of them. The same virtuoso who called them pallid and monstrous also calls them nocturnal, and makes vague allusions suggesting they worshipped darkness and would hide even from the light of the moon. These can seem hard to credit, yet who are we to claim absolute knowledge of events over two-thousand years old?
