Demirians
A cultural minority in Khabar, Demirians can mostly be found in the southern woodlands of Inez. Generally perceived as large, hairy, and wooden-faced, it is widely thought the Demirians came from across the sea sometime after the Khabarese Crusade. They are generally seen as primitive and isolated. Very few Demirians can be found outside of the forests. Nevertheless, they are a vital part of the Khabarese economy, due to their mastery of Khabarese Pine.
Khabar is world-renowned for three of its exports: Amanese rugs, Aljaran steel, and Inezirese pine (all of which are simply called Khabarese outside of the country). Inezirese pine, more commonly called ironwood in Khabar, can only be found in two places: the Cickatrice Tail Peninsula, where few wish to tread, and the woodlands occupied by the Demirians. They alone know how to foster the enormous trees outside the Cickatrice Tail (where they grow wild and unchecked), and more importantly, they alone are skilled at their destruction. Attempts in olden times to seize the forests from the Demirians resulted in mass forest fires, a remarkable fate for the notoriously difficult-to-burn trees.
