Daughter of King Otgam Wulk and Queen Gretan Faolan.
Being the only daughter of King Otgam's favorite queen (he had three wives, as was common among great Western lords), Princess Danei might have looked forward to a life of unparalleled privilege. Sadly, King Otgam died when she was only a year old, and his heir, Ollaugh the Werewolf, hated Queen Gretan with a fury. That hatred translated easily to her children. Her second son, Ghilart, would be murdered by Ollaugh in a drunken brawl shortly after the Queen's death many years later. Her first son, Padraigh, would accused of bedding Ollaugh's queen and, with no evidence, gelded. As for little Danei, legends say she lived the life of a rat, creeping into corners and living amidst shadows, doing her utmost to avoid notice.
There are no stories of abuse at Ollaugh's hands, but she was eventually betrothed to a son of Clan Baene; a marriage she evidently did not desire. Shortly before she entered majority (thought to be fifteen or sixteen at the time, perhaps even younger in the West), she snuck aboard a merchant ship traveling around the Triangle Sea and was never heard from again. Several sceyals have been spun of her imagined adventures in faraway lands.
