Session 04

General Summary

20th of Highwinter (evening)

  • The party assembles in the woods outside the Smith's house now occupied with Illidian soldiers.
  • Asira Galeseed turns into a skunk and Beck opens the bulkhead door and she slips inside and goes to the top of the stairs and sprays heavily until she can hear the soilders on the otherside begin to comment on the odor. She hides in the basement until she hears footsteps coming out the door on the otherside of the house, then runs back out the bulkhead into the woods to tell the party what she heard.
  • Mariana Kolga goes to walk around the house and look in the windows to see if anyone remains inside.
  • The party, a part from Beck who guards the bulkhead door, sneak into the basement. Collectively they spend a minute clearing the false wall of noisy tools, open the door, creep inside and gather 2 chests and carry them outside to the woods. We hear voices and arguing from the Illydian soldiers towards the end of the plunder and are scurrying to get out.
  • From the woods we hear a soldier shouting to a comrad about leaving the bulkhead door open and he starts to investigate the edge of the woods.
  • Asira turns back into a skunk and comes to the edge of the woods and raises her butt to the guard. He looks like he may attack so she sprays again and he takes off.
  • The party heads back to the temple and Elgin and Tom (the barback) open the chests to reveal what's inside.
  • Mariana, Halrick, and Dubak head to the tavern for a free dinner and then back to the temple. Asira spends time talking to Elgin about his deity and learns the following about the Temple of Erastil:
    • The Elk Father
      • Lawful Good
      • Worshipped by Humans
      • Goodness and Honesty can be found in the countryside.
      • Edicts: Care for home and family, protect community.
      • Depicted as aged man carrying a bow, or a man with an elk head.
  • Asira and Mariana learn how to play Dragon Chess from Elgin. Asira asks him about the ways to Crossway and any wisdom he can impart.
  • We bed down in the temple and the next morning Asira goes to get the horses ready while Haldrick and Mariana head to the tavern to see if they can get food for the road from Tom. We get some carrots and oats for the horses and head out.
  • We ride the horses down through the fields of Tinderward to Jolana Village, the journey takes about a day and we arrive on the outskirts of Jolana Village. We hide in a barn while Beck goes into Jolana Village to discern the alliances of the people and determine if Illidians have taken over or are patroling.
  • Beck returns and tells us that he got to talk with Polan, the defacto leader of Jolana Village. He told Beck that he is welcoming to outsiders coming in to provide knowledge of the status of the war elsewhere and potential aid. Illidians came in and took many young men and husbands away and in the last few days an unknown man has snatched two children.
  • We head into town and meet with Polan, we ask if there is somewhere we can eat and bed down for the night before helping to locate the missing children. We will also need a place for the horses. He tells us that a farmer will look after the horses and that we can stay at the home of one of the missing husbands.
  • Before retiring for the evening Polan brings the children who witnessed the 2nd kidnapping to a place where Asira can question them in a low-stress environment, she brings in bunnies and squirrels for them to play with/pet to put them at ease. And before heading into bed-down for the night we make a plan to head out in the morning to try to help find the kids.

21st of Highwinter

  • A ways into the wilderness we come across tracks that we follow and find that there is a underground bunker. Asira turns into an ant and goes in to check it out to dicern any danger. She doesn't encounter any at first scope-out and goes up to tell the others to come down.
  • There are nearly-avoided boobie-traps that get a coulple members of the party. We finally come to a anti-chamber and get through it only to see some kids on an alter which looks like some kind of ritual. A fight ensues with a wizard.
