Faecalled

The mortal agents of the fairy courts are known as the faecalled. These are spies, illusionists, tricksters, infiltrators, assassins, and manipulators. Blessed with supernatural beauty, magical trickery, and exceptional guile, they are able to accomplish their mission with grace and sophistication.   The faecalled all have patrons, archfey who issue them instructions and teach them the ways of magic. To that end they use the rules for patron magic.

Domains

Cora's Domains of Travel, Deception, and Magic

Starting Attributes

Faecalled specialize in Intuition, Soul, and Agility, preferring stealth, style, and skill over brute force. They're not above resorting to the use of Logic should they come to it, but they generally lack a brute's Strength or Stamina.

Starting Inventory

Fairy Wand: Quality 3. Assistance bonus on magical rolls.
Rapier: Quality 2. A light blade.
Fancy Clothes: Quality 2. Bonus on social skills.

Talent Advancement

  1. Subtle Caster: The fae value cleverness and guile over brute force, and the first lesson they'll teach you is how to use your magic without the distracting words and gestures that normal casters use.
  2. Beginner Caster: Your fae patron has taught you deeper ways of magic. Not only does this give you more magical options, but it also grants you a vow to follow. We recommend taking the spell familiar. This will likely take the form of an animal known for deception such as a chameleon or lyrebird, and it will not only aid your magic but act as a handy scout.
  3. Charmer: You are given a glamour, a subtle perpetual illusion that makes people see you as a more idealized version of yourself. You'll still look like you, but just subtly prettier. And this gives you improved social ability.
  4. Impossible Theft: Anyone can steal a crown or a sword or a horse. The fae have given you the power to steal someone's mojo, their magical power, or their pain.
  5. Further Training: Your services have brought you to the attention of your patron's patron, and they now wish to bring you further into their service and entrust you with greater power. As a result of that, you can now pick a new patron and learn 3 spells from that Archfey's list (instead of the 3 you would learn from Cora's list).
  6. Adept Caster (requires Beginner Caster): Your new patron has given you deeper insights into magic. Improve your magical ability as per the Adept rules, and learn a new vow from your Archfey patron list rather than Cora's list.
  7. Third Eye: Spending so much time with the fae has given you an instinct for magic. You can sense its flow and understand it on an instinctive level.
  8. Incredible Luck: You have the luck of the fae, and because of that, everything goes a little better for you.
  9. Master Infiltrator: Your set of magical disguises, stealthy talent, and charismatic wit mean you can get anywhere and become anyone.
  10. Wicked Tongue: Your words have greater power, and when you choose to let your spells really fly, they reach into your target's soul.
  11. Personal Pocket Dimension: The fae have given you your own demesne, a small personal realm where you can store all the sundries you have plundered or need to smuggle.
  12. Master of Casting (requires Adept Caster): You have met with Cora herself, the queen of the fae, and she has taught you deeper magic than you would ever think possible.

Variants

You can choose to go with Travel Magic rather than Deception Magic to use tricks like teleportation or levitation on your infiltrations. Or you can take both skills and then Rounded Beginner (Requires Beginner) and Rounded Adept (requires Adept and Rounded Beginner) to allow you to use both styles of magic.   You could focus less on magic and more on melee combat to become a sort of dashing swordsman. Talents like Melee Expert, Melee Master, Coup de Grace, and Spellblade will serve you well in that regard.   Or you could focus mostly on magic, using more of thecaster talents to augment your magic.   Finally, you can focus on the stealth aspect with more rogue talents to play up your secret agent side.
