Entropy

Entropy, chaos, raw energy. Like the crackling leashes of a fire burning out, or the release of tension as ice melts. Entropy is a new and uncertain term within the world of academia. One that has seen its name plagued by different depictions, philosophies and even myth.   The one single benefactor they all hold in common, is that the essence of a man is not so easy to snuff out as to drive a blade through their heartstrings. The soul is the greatest force of entropy. A living and breathing invincible piece of existence, a divine will which can not be destroyed by any means. Only reformed and repurposed.   Entropy is thus given name to this resource of power that burns from the memories and aspects of souls.

Entropy in Culture

As a force of the soul, it is something that does not only burn out in death, but also constantly burns in life. An energy which many believe to be located within the heart of a being.   This force is known to be coloured by the events and surroundings of an individual, as well as how their free will and personality make their walk through life. These colours have a variety of different symbolism where red might mean passion, aggression and raw strength, or green health, calm and pacifism.   The most common colour for any soul and also of entropy itself, is blue. Blue is balance, order and flow. Hence, the icey mistlike hue is depicted to be the natural essence of entropy and the colour its residue always returns to in death.

Entropy in Devotion

While entropy is shrouded in many mysteries, some have still been able to properly harness its force through practice, will and steadfast devotion.   In fact, most studies on this energy is made on monks and other practitioners who have mastered and bridged the veil between soul and body. These warriors in battle practically radiate with such fiery spirit that their energy burns out of their soul and envelopes them in flames of their colour.   While this fire is harmless, its aspects grant significant powers to the wielders where the furious end up capable of punching through concrete, while the calm and orderly can dance past both blade and bullet. Dodging the impossible. Some even channel their entropy to fuel incantations of magic, allowing them to unleash spells directly from their body without chanting nor channel to swift and erratic but devastating effect.   On rare occasions, this power can overwhelm common folk or religious disciples in desperation or heroism. Like when a mother suddenly burns red with fury from seeing her child threatened, or a priest radiant with scorching gold when standing up for the innocent.   Sadly, it is not relegated to morality or acts of righteousness. Entropy can be harnessed by blind zeal and even cruelty, just as it can radiate from righteous glory. It is also not possible to judge a man’s heart solely based on their colour, as both good bad and ugly, can share the same grey shades.

Entropy in Philosophy

Due to its fuel being the soul, entropy is naturally something often discussed in philosophical circles. Everything from theological to scientific and cultural groups have different perspectives on the matter and sometimes even different names for the energy.   What most have in common, is the link between the soul and belief. How it’s believed, though in various different ways, that entropy is something holy and changeable. A force made up of a being's very essence and the sole thing that remains immortal when a soul leaves its old husk.   It is often linked with the belief in afterlives, where some believe the aspect of a soul decides what sort of heaven one will go to. Or that one requires enough of it to be worthy of an afterlife.   Others believe that mortals are in fact seeds of the divine, planted in the world of Equilibrium to judge them worthy of ascendance, while others preach that it’s a condemnation where order of the soul must be achieved, in order to avoid reincarnation.   Some say it is directly tied to magic. The mystical spirit and the shadow of physical reality.   A few even believe that each and every of these statements holds grains of truth.

Entropy in Sovereignty

Divine matter sent as blessings of the gods, or just another building block of the world. No matter what is true, there is no denying that entropy is a force that can be utilised for both valour… and atrocity.   Any soul stripped from its body, is a vast force of uncontrolled energy which is easily disrupted and harnessed by those that dabble in the darker arts.   Just as some use its powers in rites of release and farewell, others take what is not theirs and bend it to their will.   The art known as necromancy is one such discipline that claims false sovereignty of the soul by capturing the will of a spirit in their own bent entropy. Making them vessels for undead contraptions of flesh or metal, or even as channelled into horrific and terribly effective spells. Ones that can far surpass the limits of warp than what any mortal should be able to wield.   As to what happens to these souls. As energy can never be destroyed, it is sufficient to say they are not cast to oblivion. Although none truly knows their final destination.

Entropy in Liberation

To every being there is the shadow. The arts of blasphemy against the soul is no different, as some creatures of the night live for little else than to preserve the cycle.   Those of the black are famously known to be sensitive to entropy and souls. Especially those in peril.   It’s even said that these harbingers are capable of seeing and sensing their presence unlike most mortals. To an extent that they even have the ability to hear and smell them. Perhaps there is truth to this, as oftentime when a crime against the soul is committed, the black wings of Death are swift to pursue.

A whirl of entropy

The crusader

Wether a noble saviour who's golden sheen defends the innocent, or a vicious zealot who would stop at nothing to purify the heretics in his gilded path. The burning divine light does not change to morality, forcing you to make up your own picture of him.

I very much liked this article - it has lots of potential. A trick I learned is to move text out of your CONTENT tab into the footer section of your SECTIONS tab and that will "fill" the right side bar on the bottom (gives you 12 col width). And LINK LINK LINK!
