Kron Family
The Kron are the leading family in Sidon and currently lead by Baraca Kron who is currently King of Sidon.
The Kron family is diversified with large land holdings, owning interest in the Potters of Sidon, have trade interests regionally and distant, and they control the salt market, and thus have some control over the Fishermen of Sidon. Recently they have bought ships and are making trial runs along the nearby coast, but have spoken of plans to attempt to open trade with nations further away across the Great Sea.

History
Balacar Kron came to Sidon in 824 AR from Marta a town to the Northeast of Sidon. He came to town with a string of donkeys loaded with soapstone carvings and baskets that he sold. He then used the proceeds to establish himself as a buyer from the caravans that were starting to arrive in Sidon. He was a shrewd and meticulous business man. He was known for his fair dealing and steady choice of solid low risk opportunities. He played a significant role in forming the ruling Council of Sidon and the eleciton of the first King of Sidon. He died during the plauge of 840 AR.
His son Barcaba was only 13 when his father died. This young man was guided by his Father's able eunich Groo. Under his guidance the impetuous youth became an able merchant. He was bolder than his father, but his speculations paid off although there were times it seemed disaster was upon the family. In the end he had ammassed enough silver to start the construction of two ships. His choices lead to the Kron surpassing the other families in wealth. But he had little interest in governance and was happy to be free of the duties of King, and often was an absentee council member. In 872 his health failed and the family leadership was passed on to his son.
Groo again found himself with a minor heir in his charge as young Baraca was only 9 when his Father died. Baraca was bold like his father but was of a darker disposition. He was also very interested in the affairs of the council. from 889 AR when he could assume his seat he has been the most active council member. He pushed for the City docks to be built, and had often lead each civic improvement that has come your way. He is focused on advancing the town at any point where it benefits the family. He ascended to the Kingship in 921 AR, and has been far more active as King than any of his predecessors. He can regularly be found in the Marketplace conducting both personal and City business. He is a zelous judge and seems to relish handing out penalties. His practices have grown the city and the family business, but there are undercurrents of unrest with him.
His eldest son Barcarlo Kron seems ready to follow in his footsteps.
