Coale

Coale serves as the capital of Centruum, a country at the center of the Imela continent. Despite being the capital city, Coale is actually the collective name given to the twelve cities surrounding The Core of Arbressian.
Each of the cities is built around a grand temple to one of the Creator Gods of Arbressian and is named for the deity their temple represents.
The cities that together make Coale are connected by a skyrail which makes possible fairly quick travel between them. Other than being a quick and convenient method of transportation for both people and goods, the underside of the rail as well as its support pillars are carved with protective runes which keeps the more dangerous elements of the nature around The Core contained.

Government

Each of the cities of Coale has its own council led by a mayor. The twelve mayors will often have meetings with each other and discuss what they want done in their city and what is most pressing and what would be most beneficial to the capital as a whole. It's a complicated process and steeped in bureaucracy and disagreements. Any greater decisions have to be brought to the Exalted Sovereign who has the final say in all governing matters of Centruum as a whole.

Guilds and Factions

Coale was not always as unified as it is now by the ease of transportation on the skyrail. Before its invention and added protection, travel between the cities was far more arduous and considerably more dangerous. There used to be a much higher demand for mercenaries to act as guards for merchant caravans and the like. Mercenary groups still exist but with not as much "easy" work as protectors for merchants and other travellers between the cities, some of them turn to other methods to earn fast coin using disreputable methods. The largest mercenary guild from before the invention of the skyrail was officially dissolved but it is believed that many of the mercenaries never disbanded and instead were the first leaders and members of the largest organised crime group in Coale.
