Exalted Sovereign

Exalted Sovereigns are the rulers of Centruum, a country located in the center of the continent Imela. There is only one Exalted Sovereign at a time but they have help from the Exalted Council, comprised of their predecessors.

Career Progression

Before becoming Exalted Sovereign one must be an Exalted Heir, also simply known as Exalted. Every twenty five years a secret and sacred ritual is performed to find the new Exalted among newborn citizens of Centruum. The Exhalted heir is then taught by the current Exalted Sovereign and the Exalted Council on how to rule the country until the day they become twenty five years old and take their place as the new Sovereign. They then rule as Sovereign until the next Heir takes their place, after which they can choose to be part of the Exalted Council or move on to something else entirely.

Perception

History

The first Exalted Sovereign was instated in Centruum in the year 1526 of the Age of Parting.
Centruum had been at unrest or outright war with neighbouring countries for centuries due to The Core of Arbressian's presence in the country. Many people wanted power over the lands of the untouched core of the Material of Creation, thinking that it would lend them importance and great glory. Even people from other continents would travel all the way to Centruum in hopes of using the chaos and wars to assassinate whoever was in control at the time and take their place.
In 1500 of the Age of Parting, twelve clerics devoted to each of the neutral and good aligned Creator Gods received visions from their deities. These visions told them what they would need in order to perform a ritual to find a person who would end the centuries of conflict in Centruum and protect the sacred lands around the Core of Arbressian. It took them a year to come together and prepare for the ritual and once it was done, the clerics were very surprised to find that it led them to a newborn child. Nevertheless, they decided to raise the child together with her parents - who were confused at first but agreed once they learned of their child's importance - and waited for a sign from the gods that the time was right.
Once the child had reached twenty years old and become an adult she, with the help of the twelve clerics, went around to the grand temples in the twelve cities known collectively as Coale and slowly but surely earned their trust and cooperation. In 1526 they launched their plan of a coup to seize the throne from the current ruler and placed the first Exalted on the throne, her name was Branli Brightsong.
